RJOB’s Board of Directors

Micayla Hayes - Chair

Long-time resident of Oak Bay, Micayla Greschner-Hayes has a B.A. (Hons) in Criminology from the University of Toronto and an MA in Criminology from King’s College in London, England.  Throughout her undergraduate and post-graduate education Micayla held numerous prestigious internships and professional positions, including Research Intern for a professor at the University of Toronto, and Assistant to the Research Director to the Center for Crime and Justice Studies in London, England.  After finishing her studies, Micayla began to work as a consultant for various real estate-related businesses in Victoria and Vancouver, and is now the co-owner and President of The London Chef on Fort Street.  Heavily involved in the community, Micayla has a longstanding history of past and present volunteerism and community participation. In addition to working with adults and children with disabilities, Micayla is currently the Chair of Restorative Justice Oak Bay and is a director on the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Board.  To contact Micayla in regards to RJOB, please email rjob.chair@gmail.com

Ian Swan - Secretary & Treasurer

Ian earned a BSc in Biology from the University of Victoria and is currently working on a Master’s degree at UVic. His research looks at the neurobiological mechanisms underlying stroke recovery. On top of his involvement with Restorative Justice Oak Bay, Ian also sits on the board of the Victoria Hospice Society and is an active member of the CRD’s Bowker Creek Initiative. Being born, raised, and educated in Oak Bay, Ian brings a unique personal knowledge of the community to the board. Ian was attracted to working with RJOB by the organizations goal of bringing an important new element to our local justice system.

Jessica Dyson-Loewen - Co-Case Coordinator

Jessica recently joined the Restorative Justice Oak Bay (RJOB) as a Board Member in 2010.  She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and currently works for the BC Government.  Jessica's participation in RJOB was inspired both through her studies at the University of Victoria and her employment with the BC Government.  Jessica is the Case Coordinator at RJOB.  Jessica is passionate about restorative justice and believes it is a compelling alternative to the retributive justice system.  To contact Jessica in regards to RJOB, please email rjob.case.coordinator@gmail.com

Jessica Rourke

Jessica obtained her Bachelor’s of Arts (Honours) as well as her Master’s Degree in Social-Personality Psychology from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. She is currently wrapping up her Ph.D. in Social-Personality Psychology at UVic. Her primary research interests lie in the field of forgiveness. Jessica learned about the healing potential of restorative justice through her research on forgiveness and is excited to be involved with Restorative Justice Oak Bay. Jessica has been a board member of RJOB since 2009 and a case facilitator since 2010.

Meredith Hughes


Meredith is a new board member with Restorative Justice Oak Bay. Alongside volunteering she is currently a 4th year psychology student at the University of Victoria. Meredith was first introduced to restorative justice through her studies at UVic, and she became inspired by its potential for healing and growth within the community. She is excited to be a part of RJOB, and looks forward to being involved with all it has to offer to Oak Bay.

Amanda Newton

Amanda is a new member on the Board of Directors with Restorative Justice Oak Bay.  She is very excited about the organization, its members, and the upcoming events at RJOB.  One of the things Amanda loves most about Restorative Justice is the endless amount of doors it opens for the community to heal, grow and build significant relationships. Amanda has completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Victoria. She plans to continue going to school after a year off to travel, volunteer, or even both! She is also very interested in continuing her education by working towards a Master’s Degree in Alternate Dispute Resolution. 

Christine Fritze

Christine was born and raised in Konstanz, Germany, and moved to Victoria six years ago. She completed her BA with Honours in History and a Minor in Germanic Studies at the University of Victoria, where she started her MA in Dispute Resolution in September 2010. Christine has always been particularly interested in working with children and youth. In the past, she has held a position as a teaching assistant at the Victoria German School, working with a group of bilingual children. Christine has also gathered valuable leadership experience volunteering at Belmont Secondary School in supervising and guiding youth from various backgrounds. She is very excited to be part of RJOB and looks forward to helping provide restorative justice services to the Oak Bay community.

Hamish Stevenson

Dan Parker


Dan is in his last year of a B.A. Honours in Psychology at the University of Victoria.  He is currently researching learning disabilities in regards to identification and intervention from a neuropsychological perspective.  After graduating, he will be applying to Graduate Schools and is hoping to continue his studies in the field of Forensic Psychology.  Dan is also working at the Youth Custody Centre and is an active musician in Victoria.  He strongly believes in the power of Restorative Justice and that it should be embraced by the Criminal Justice System.
